About the Organisation

Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services LTD (KAMS) is a well-established regional Aboriginal community controlled health service, founded in 1986, which provides centralised advocacy and resource support for 6 independent member services, as well as providing direct clinical services in a further 6 remote Aboriginal communities across the region.

KAMS has successfully delivered high-quality, accessible comprehensive primary health care services over its 30 years of operation and has provided innovation and national leadership in areas such as health information management and evidence-based best practice in primary health care.

About the Opportunity

KAMS now has an opportunity for a Child Health Nurse to join their friendly, multidisciplinary team in Kutjungka, WA, on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for the coordination and delivery of Child Health Services in local remote communities.

Some of your key responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

* Collaborating with key stakeholders to update baseline information about existing child health services;

* Assisting with the planning, development and distribution of health promotion training and resources for clients, KAMS staff and the local and regional community in child health;

* Supporting specific needs identified by women and children, including women's gatherings, mental health and regular first aid training, school programs and mum and bubs programs;

* Providing, supporting and enabling access to universal child health screening support and referrals;

* Monitoring the quality of maternal and child health services being delivered in the region so that service related problems are picked up early and corrected; and

* Using local evidence to identify and collate topics that require further investigation by research.

The ideal candidate will be a Registered Nurse, who is registered with AHPRA and has Post Graduate qualifications in Child Health. You will also have demonstrated experience in the planning, provision, management, and evaluation of maternal and child health services in a Primary Health Care setting.

* Annual airfares subsidy to the value of $1,285 p.a. (after 12 months of service);

* Iso airfares subsidy to the value of $1,200 p.a.;

* District allowance $2,740 single/$5,480 double;

* Retention allowance of $8,000 (after 2 years continuous service);

* Isolation leave of 10 weeks on, 2 weeks off (plus 1 week annual leave); and

* Accommodation provided in the community.
